In Twelve Angry Jurors, on a hot summer day, a jury prepares to deliberate the case of an inner-city youth accused of killing his abusive father. At first, the case seems clear but when one juror votes not guilty, fault lines begin to appear. Disagreements and conflicts force the jurors to question their own motivations, morals, prejudices, and values. Twelve Angry Jurors has been called a tribute to the common man holding out against lynch mob mentality and is a powerful exploration of what it means to live in a democracy.
CAST
12 Jurors – any age, any ethnicity, any gender*; will play as adults old enough to be seated on a jury
1 Guard – any age, any ethnicity, any gender; will play as an adult old enough to be a police officer. This is a great role for someone wanting to get into acting who may have no previous experience. The Guard is the first person to speak after the curtain rises and interacts with the jury members several times during the play.
This production has opportunities for everyone in support of our commitment to diverse, inclusive casting.
