About the Event

Drunk Classics

Production: The Nutcracker

Director: Dakota Lee Bryant

Cast: 6 individuals

Rehearsals: November-December 2021 

Performances: December 10-11 & 17-18, 2021

Location: This production will take place in person and on tour with our four touring partners: Anthem Brewing Company, Angry Scotsman Brewing, Put a Cork in It Winery and Roughtail Brewing Company.   

Covid-19: We are monitoring Covid safety and evaluating policies, and the safety of our cast, crew, audience and staff is among our top priorities. Masks requirements will be assessed and may or may not be required for audiences during this production. Cast will be performing in clear plastic masks provided by 3rd Act Theatre Company. 

About Drunk Classics: At any point during the performance, an audience member can make a donation for a “Drunken Point Of Order” – a new rule that the players must abide by, once the rules have been explained the games can begin! Examples include: accents, exclamatory words, physical actions.

One player, selected by the audience, will consume several adult beverages to start the show. An abridged piece will then be performed, with loads of room for audience inclusion, and one inebriated participant.

Notes:

  1. Players must be able to consume alcohol.*
  2. No member of the cast will 'play the drunk' consecutively.
  3. Transportation for drinking member will be provided.

*Though the nature and atmosphere of this production centers aroud the imbibeing of adult beverages, those who participate in sober-living are welcome and encurouged to audition. Accomodations can be made in the production to protect and include those who are unable to participate in the consumption of alcohol.

The Winter Tour: We are committed to diverse, inclusive casting. Any specifics integral to the plot or required by the publisher will be listed in the individual announcement.

3rd Act Theatre Company is proud to be back for its 3rd Annual Drunk Classics Winter Tour with Drunk Classics: Nutcracker! This winter join us at our partnering breweries and wineries to explore the classic tale of The Nutcracker and the Mouse King by E. T. A. Hoffman. It's Christmas Eve in the Silberhaus Home and Grandfather Drosselmeyer is watching the demure Marie and the rambucous Fritz. Drosselmeyer weaves together a story of: a Cursed Royal Candy Family, an Evil NUT obsessed Rat Witch, the struggles of a being a kid awaiting the perfect Christmas Gift and a crazy RAT vs TOY Dance BATTLE!!!! Add a bit of alcohol and a whole lot of Improv and you've arrived at our NUT-Tastic Holiday Special! 6 Performers will play a multitude of roles with quick costume changes and ever quicker improv drops ins from the magical Christmas Box of IMPROV! It's NUTCRACKER like you've never seen it (but always wished you had)!

Performer #3: Drosselmeyer/Mouse King/Hans/Candy Cane: Any, Masculine-Presenting.  

Performer #4: Mrs. Silberhaus/Mouse/Queen Nutpuddin'/Sound Effects: Any, Feminine-Presenting. 

Performer #5: Mr. Silberhaus/Krakanut/Nutcracker: Any, Masculine-Presenting.

Performer #6: Sugar Plum/ Gretchen / Soldier / Snow Fairy / Fortune Teller: Any, Feminine-Presenting.

Video Submissions will be accepted if an auditioner is unable to attend the audition.

Sides and access to the Zoom meeting will be provided via link sent prior to the auditions. 

This event is a fundraiser for 3rd Act Theatre Company. Stipends are determined nightly from a collection tin and split amongst the cast for each performance.
