"Inherit the Wind" is inspired by the real-life Scopes Monkey Trial of 1925. Set in the fictional town of Hillsboro, Tennessee, the play centers on the trial of a young schoolteacher, Bertram Cates, who is accused of teaching evolution in violation of state law.

The trial becomes a battleground between two titans of legal and ideological thought: Matthew Harrison Brady, a charismatic and devout fundamentalist representing the prosecution, and Henry Drummond, a renowned agnostic and civil liberties defender representing the defense. As the trial unfolds, the clash between science and religion, freedom of thought and censorship, takes center stage.

In the courtroom, personal and political tensions run high, with the entire town captivated by the spectacle. The play explores themes of intellectual freedom, the power of belief, and the struggle between progress and tradition. Through compelling dialogue and intense confrontations, "Inherit the Wind" delves into the complexities of human nature and the enduring quest for truth and justice.

Sides and a perusal script will be available on or around March 6th.

A small stipend will be provided.
