About the Production

In 7 Stories, a fast-paced dark comedy that takes place on the 7th floor ledge of an apartment building, "Man" is mustering the courage to jump while suffering constant interruption from the residents of the building, each with a story to tell.  "Man" is drawn in and his curiosity keeps him from jumping, but also prevents self-reflection.  7 Stories explores themes of self-harm, loneliness, and the meaning of life.

About the Characters

Characters: (several may be doubled)

Man | male-presenting, any age - A man on a ledge. Contemplating jumping, but keeps getting pulled into the intrusive lives of those around him. Is looking for something...maybe the meaning of life, maybe just a place to park his car.

Charlotte | female-presenting, early 20s to late 40s - Loves the drama and being at the center of it. In a toxic relationship with Rodney, but it’s better than being in a boring relationship.

Rodney | male-presenting, early 20s to late 40s - Just as dramatic as Charlotte, matches her energy, and vacillates wildly between doting on her and threatening to kill her. Finds it all very amusing.

Jennifer | female-presenting, any age - Is crashing a party while on her way to crashing another party. Easily fascinated and just as easily bored.

Leonard | male-presenting, any age - Incredibly paranoid and neurotic. Hasn’t slept in three years. But he knows what he’s talking about; he’s a psychiatrist, after all.

Marshall | male-presenting, late 20s to late 40s- Presents as very theatrical, but is living a false life. Now that he is getting married it is too late to change it, so he is committed to the bit: pretentious accent, dyed hair, fake mustache and all!

Joan | female presenting, any age - Aspires to have a keen eye and deep appreciation of art, so she hangs on Michael’s every word, whom she reveres as an artistic genius.

Michael | male-presenting, any age - A self-appointed taste-maker, convinced of his superior aesthetic sensibilities. Has little patience for anyone else’s opinion other than his own.

Rachel | female-presenting, any age - Incredibly religious, convinced that she is the hand of God sent to answer the prayers of the people who live below her. Is highly suspicious of those who don’t believe.

Percy | male-presenting, any age - Obsessed with following trends. Collects “friends” like other people collect coins or stamps. But doesn’t actually like any of them.

Al | male-presenting, any age - Plagued by the fear of missing out, he feels the social pressure to host parties, though he hates having everyone there. Tries to get them to leave as quickly as possible so he can go to another party that is sure to be better.

Nurse Wilson | female-presenting, 30s to any age - Lillian’s in-home nurse, but seems to have lost her empathy years ago. Makes up for her lack of bedside manner with an abundance of sarcasm and cynicism.

Lillian | female-presenting, any age, plays an "old woman in the twilight of her life" - the only person who is interested in talking WITH the Man and not AT him. Seems content with not having figured out life but still immensely curious in what it has to offer.
